If you are one of those people who leaves work every day with a list of things you need to get done at home and at work the next day, you need to find ways to handle your stress levels. Managing stress can be difficult, but with a little help, you can accomplish the task. A lot of people have had to learn ways to manage their stress levels. In fact, around 40 percent of people working in the United States claim that they struggle with stress in relation to their jobs, according to the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health.
Sometimes, work can be so stressful it can actually make you sick. If you have not learned how to manage your stress levels at that point, missing work only makes matters sick. This is not a rare thing to happen for stressed out people, either. In fact around 1 million people working become so stressed out that they miss work every single day in the United States.
So, what can you do to manage your stress?
One of the most obvious answers is to allow your body the opportunity to get enough rest and relaxation so that it is prepared to handle the next day. It is recommended that people get at least seven to nine hours of sleep throughout each and every night. This means you actually sleep for that many hours in one night. It does not mean you sleep for four hours one night and twelve hours the next night.
Unfortunately, most people are not getting that much sleep which contributes to their even higher stress levels. People actually get around 6.8 hours of sleep a night. That number has decreased significantly since 1942 when people were sleeping around eight hours every night.
To help improve your sleeping patterns, there are a few things you can try that do not take a lot of effort on your part. Simply give some aromatherapy a try. You can use a variety of things from a heated back wrap, to a microwavable shoulder heat wrap, to a heated neck pillow. Depending on where you feel like you carry your stress, that is how you can determine where to apply the aromatherapy heat wrap or pillow. Another thing you can do is add essential oils like lavender to create a lavender scented heat wrap or lavender scented microwavable shoulder heat wrap to add even more relaxing and calming elements to the mix.
Since getting enough rest and sleep is closely linked to one?s ability to have a higher well-being, it is important to find ways that work for you to get the eight or so hours of sleep you need each night. Don?t simply give up and continue living a life of stress, no sleep and no ability to improve your overall well-being. Make proactive choices to get you into a better state of mind so that you can get back to doing what you love happily and with enough energy.
